Baptism is an important step of obedience that shows others we have personally trusted Jesus for our salvation. Jesus was baptized when He was on the earth, and we do this to follow His example. When Christians are baptized, they are submerged under water to identify with the death and burial of Jesus and raised out of the water to identify with His resurrection.
This page has been created to answer any questions you may have about water baptism. You may also contact the church office at (805) 648-7955 if you have any additional questions.
Do I have to be a member of TRC in order to be baptized?
You do not need to be a member in order to be baptized, although we would prefer that you attend regularly and consider The River Community your church home. If you have recently made a commitment to Christ here at the river, we would encourage you to be baptized as soon as possible, even if you have not been attending for very long.
- You want to follow the example of Jesus. “ At that time Jesus came from Nazareth and was baptized by John in the river.” Mark 1:9
- Jesus commanded it. “ Jesus said, ‘Go then, to all people everywhere and make them I disciples, baptize them in the name of the father, the son, and the Holy Spirit, and then teach them to obey everything I have commanded you’” Matthew 28:19-20
- It shows you are a believer. “…many of the Corinthians who heard him believed and were baptized” Acts 18:8
PLEASE FILL OUT THE FORM AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN BEING BAPTIZED.
